S&P: South African insurers face downward earnings pressure as cat claims bite

Extreme weather in the south and east regions of South Africa in June may see some primary insurers continue to adjust premiums upwards, according to S&P Global, amid warnings of “downward pressure” on sector earnings from a combination of claims and inflation.
