Canada takes C$3.12 cat hit in 2022 amid renewed calls for NFIP formation

Canada suffered C$3.12bn ($2.31bn) of insured losses from severe weather in 2022 with the derecho that hit Ontario and Quebec in May and damage caused by Hurricane Fiona accounting for over half the total, new figures from Catastrophe Indices and Quantification Inc (CatIQ) show.
