James River shares slide 7% after E&S GWP drop in Q3

James River’s management has revealed the 5.9 percent drop in its E&S gross premiums in the third quarter was the result of non-renewing several large trucking and transportation risks, but premiums on a net basis grew 10.2 percent partly as a result of a 10 point increase in retention in its excess casualty treaty.
