Moody’s: Interest rate spike to hurt insurer equity

The continued upward movement in interest rates has reduced the carrying value of fixed income securities held by insurers, Moody’s has warned, adding that the impact of higher interest rates is muted by the offsetting impact on insurance reserve liabilities.
