PRA warns regime gaps and modelling challenges may impact insurers’ capitalisation for climate risks

Difficulties in estimating climate risks and capturing these risks within existing capital regimes are creating uncertainty over whether banks and insurers are sufficiently capitalised for future climate-related losses, according to a new report by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
