Universal Q2 combined ratio improves despite non-cat claim development

Florida carrier Universal Insurance Holdings has reported a 21 percent increase in operating income and 2.2 point improvement in its combined ratio as a result of lower weather losses in this year’s second quarter, although there was adverve development on non-cat claims.
