Upland continues management build out with hire of PwC’s Jones
Upland Capital Group has hired Mark Jones from PwC as chief risk officer, chief actuary and head of analytics, with the appointment the E&S start-up’s latest of a former Hallmark Financial services executive.
Jones will manage the enterprise risk of Upland as it continues to implement its strategies for steady, long-term growth.
He brings 25 years of industry experience, most recently as director of advanced analytics, technology and actuarial at PwC. He was previously vice president – senior actuary at Hallmark.
Jones will report to Upland’s chairman, president and CEO Todd Hart.
Former Narragansett Bay Insurance Company CEO Hart teamed up with James Damonte, Mark Morrison and Pamela Byron-Button to launch Dallas-based Upland with $200mn of backing from Newlight Partners at the beginning of this year.
Damonte and Morrison are both former Hallmark executives.
Upland has since hired Richard Wilson, Hallmark’s former national practice leader for public entity business, as well as appointing a team of former Hallmark employees to handle its excess transportation liability specialty insurance offering.
